San Diego Area Cake Smash Photography Studio

Hi there! I’m Stacey, a professional portrait photographer based out of Carlsbad, California. If you’ve found this post, chances are, you are on the hunt for a photographer to capture your child’s one year portrait session. I would LOVE to help you with this. Here’s a little Q&A that might answer some of your cake smash photography questions!

Why is Lovely Baby Photography different? First, I have been working with kids for 14 years and I specialize in cake smash sessions. This means that I have a HUGE prop room full of real props that I use in my sets. I have over 150 backdrops/themes. And I supply wardrobe for your session. I have over 200 outfits for little girls and over 100 outfits for little boys. I also supply the cake. That means that you just need to show up and everything is handled for you! My goal is for you to soak in this moment, have a great time watching your little one have their pictures taken, and overall have a great experience to remember.

When should I schedule my baby’s cake smash session? Contact me when baby is about 10 months and we’ll schedule the session between 11-12 months.

Do I need to bring anything to the cake smash session? Just a happy baby and maybe some of baby’s favorite snacks! I handle the rest.

How do I pick out the theme for my baby’s cake smash session? I offer THREE different backdrops for each session… and you get to change baby into three different outfits to go with each set. I will forward you a gallery of the different backdrops that I have, and I have you pick those out and send you a planning sheet based on your selections.

What if my baby crys? I have been working with kids for 14 years. I have lots of tricks to get baby to look at the camera. Some babies will smile for me, and others have a little bit of stranger danger, so they will look at me but not smile as much as they might at home. I do my best, and I have parents help to get smiles if possible as well. Even the more serious images end up being super cute. We do our best to get beautiful images for you – smiles or serious!

How many backdrops do I get to pick? THREE! Yep, you get to pick three different themes/backdrops.

Do you provide the cake smash cake? Yes, I provide a basic 4” cake. You can add cake upgrades if you would like to!

Do you provide cake smash outfits? YES! I have a HUGE wardrobe of outfits. I have hats for little boys and hair bows/floral accessories for little girls. And I have adorable “1” crowns for use as well. I have it all!
