"What's the difference between a milestone session and a one year session?"
Milestone sessions are available at any age really! I do photograph a lot of babies at the six month mark... which is a very sweet milestone. I do have a lot of clients return every year near their child's birthday to capture the changes that happen each year. All of these are considered "milestone sessions".
Six Month Photography Sessions
I truly ADORE the 6 month stage and this is a great milestone to capture in addition to a one year session.. Your baby is growing, and their personality is starting to make its way to the surface. I highly recommend capturing portraits at the six month and one year milestones. You'll see a huge difference in those six months! And at one year, you have survived 365 days of parenthood!
I love this stage because they are usually just starting to sit up, but they can’t run away from us yet! The smiles are the best at this age.

I have many clients who return to me each year to capture portraits of their little ones. After the one year cake smash sessions, they will often return for 2 years, 3 years and beyond. Any age is a great age to capture in a portrait.

When should i schedule A MILESTOnE session?
If you've already done a newborn session and you want to capture baby's first year, I think the 6-7 month range is the sweetest. If they are sitting up with assistance, or independently, that is ideal. Then, of course, a one year cake smash session is a necessity! And many parents will come back year after year during their child's birthday month for yearly milestone portraits.
Should I do more than one session during baby's first year?
Its definitely up to each family. Babies change a lot from newborn to six months to one year. Its so fun to capture their sweet, emerging personalities along the way. I promise you won't regret being in the pictures. The first year goes by quickly and its so special to have these images.
